Choosing a wedding suit for men  is a daunting task. you’ve got fabric, color, fit and so on to worry about. But what if we wanted to be a little more stylish and add another level of complexity? Welcome to the world of three-piece suits.

A three-piece suit is essentially a suit with a waistcoat. The three pieces are (obviously) the suit, the pants and the respective waistcoat.

Since most suits are made of only two pieces, a three piece suit will give you that unique edge you will need in a formal situation. While most guys are still wearing their two-piece suits, by adding an extra layer into yours, you will make a strong fashion statement.

But you can’t do this every time. If it’s really hot outside, wearing a waistcoat is not a really great idea. You’ll most likely want to remove even the suit jacket in order to keep yourself cool.

The benefits of wearing a waistcoat

The waistcoat isn’t there just to look good – it has some other advantages too. First off, it has a trimming effect!

If you’re wearing a light-colored (or a white) shirt, a darker waistcoat will distract the attention from your belly and up to your neck and face.

Second, it helps keep the tie in place. If you’re not wearing a tie clip, chances are your tie will bounce around as you make different movements. A waistcoat removes the need for a tie clip and makes sure the tie stays in its place. The side effect of that is that there’s a smaller chance that the tie knot will deviate to either left or right.

What suit color should I choose and how should I match it with my shirt, tie and pocket square?

Well, this is a pretty long answer. I covered suits in depth in my book which is part of the Be Stylish ™ Package but I’ll give you a few tips right here.

First off, consider your skin tone. If you have light skin complexion, go for a lighter suit. Light gray, blue, light green and beige are great suit colors.

On the other hand, if you have darker skin, think of purchasing a darker-colored suit, such as navy blue, dark brown or dark gray.

Careful, though! If you have light skin but you want to wear the suit for business situations well… in that case you DON’T want a light colored suit. Why? Because you need to also consider the seriousness of the situation. Dark and medium colors are recommended for you in such cases. Get a lighter colored suit for weddings and any other non-business-related occasions.

The fedora

It would take pages custom suits to try and figure out why the fedora is the coolest hat out there. The shape is just cool and looks good on most men. If there’s one piece of advice that you can get out of this article and implement right away, it is this: go try on as many fedora  hats as you can.

I can’t believe I didn’t write this article sooner. I can’t imagine how Be Stylish, a mature men’s style blog, didn’t have a page dedicated to one of the hottest Hollywood actors.. who also happens to be the worlds’d most famous  men style icon.

I think one of the funniest stories I ever head about Johnny was when this school girl wedding suit for men wrote to “Jack Sparrow” (the name of the character he plays in Pirates of the Caribbean).

She wrote to him that she and her colleagues got sick of their teachers and that they’re planning to start a mutiny. Just like pirates, who rebel against taxes social norms. At the end of the letter, she (obviously) wrote down her school where she was studying.

You’ll never guess what happened. Jack Sparrow , decided to pay her a visit… while wearing the full costume of the most famous pirate character in the world.

How cool is that?

Well, I’m not going to post any pictures of that costume…wedding suit for men  I’m sure you already know it. Instead, I’ll show you some of the hottest outfits Johnny has ever worn… and comment them from a style perspective.

We’re starting off with this apparently simple outfit… if you don’t count the tattoo and the accessories, that is.

The t-shirt isn’t much and I’m sure you could get one yourself right now.

But what about the hat? Would you wear one? Mixing black and dark-brown isn’t such a great idea but mixing GREY an brown can make you look damn hot!

And what about the wrist watch? The brown leather strap matches the t-shirt and gives him that “I’m a busy man” look, along with the glasses.

But that “good guy” look is quickly toned down by the tattoos on both his arm and the rest of the accessories.

The interesting thing about this is that no single item of clothing stands out – yet the overall look is amazing.

Outfit #2: Johnny in a brown leather jacket  and wearing a green scarf

I’m sorry I don’t have the full attire but, even so, we have a lot to learn about matching colors from this second outfit.

Breakdown: light-brown jacket, green scarf, gray hat and glasses with purple lens. Don’t forget the 2 rings on his right hand.

The trio brown-green-purple works well together but it all depends on the quantity. If you’re afraid you’ll screw up, just finish the outfit with grays (gray chinos, gray  shoes, a light-gray t-shirt etc.)

Neutral colors are your lifeguard when you’re playing around with colors.

Outfit #3: lots and lots of bracelets

Well, you don’t have to wear them if you don’t like them. The thing is, once you’ll reach a certain point in your style evolution, you’ll begin to love certain clothes and accessories… and there’s no doubt Johnny Depp is in love with bracelets.

What Should a T-Shirt Look Like?

custom suits I just wanted to give you a few pointers as to what makes a good t-shirt, which colors to choose and which models to avoid.

Fabric

This one is easy. Always go for cotton. It’s breathable, it’s light and it’s casual. Avoid synthetic fibers as they can cause itching and don’t allow for proper air circulation.

Colors

Since t-shirt are always part of casual outfits, you can choose pretty much any color you want. Since they surround your face, it’s always good to choose a color that makes good contrast with your skin tone.

What not to wear

Men’s Belts – What You Need to Know

I’ve talked a lot about “fancy” fashion items lately, spectator shoes, dyed denim jeans, gladiator sandals and suede boots. But none of these would shine if we didn’t have the basics down.

A solid custom suits is built from the ground up and belts are one of those pillars.

Are belts optional?

Generally speaking yes. But don’t forget that belts are just another accessory and that accessories are what make outfits look stunning.

If you’re overweight then skipping a belt is probably a great idea. You don’t want the first thing people notice to be your belly. Not just that but those amazing belts can break the outfit in 2 (literally). Remember: to look taller and hid the extra pounds, avoid horizontal lines of any kind.

Just remember that if you want to skip belts, the pants have to fit you perfectly in the waist. Otherwise they’ll just start falling down as you start walking.

The two types of belts

This part is easy as well as important. There are 2 types of belts: those that you can only wear in casual encounters and those that you can wear in both formal and informal settings.

The first type of belt is thick, usually made from canvas and sometimes from leather. These can only be worn as part of casual settings.

Tricks to making belts work

When ti comes to matching belts, custom suits the rules are not set in stone. Not by far. There are, however, some general rules you’ll want to consider.

Rule #1: brown belts go with brown shoes. If you’re tired of matching brown, you can try to go with different shades of brown on the belt and shoes. But black and brown rarely work well together.
Rule #2: match your belt with anything you want. For instance, I really like wearing a brown belt with chinos and a dark-brown shirt. I look fantastic in this outfit and it’s not hard to figure out why. All 3 elements are form the brown family and match each other. Plus, the pants contrast very well with the other two.

You can take clothes you buy from the mall to pretty much any tailor for adjustments. But if you want a custom shirt or a custom suits you should find a higher end tailor that not only has great fabrics but he’s also known for his quality work.

Ways to find a good include searching the internet for local businesses and asking around. Spend some time researching to find out if that particular tailor is really good and to compare prices with other tailors.

Tailor visits have been around for centuries but, with the Internet, there comes a new option: to order bespoke clothing online.

I don’t recommend this for suits as they require more attention to detail and a good old fashioned 1-on-1 conversation to your tailor, so he knows exactly what you want.
